Anhand der JIM-Studie, welche die Medienwelt und den Medienalltag 12 – 19 Jähriger dokumentiert, möchte ich meine Beobachtungen mit denen der Studie vergleichen und auswerten. Des Weiteren habe ich einen Fragebogen entwickelt und ein Interview durchgeführt, um detaillierter an purpose und Hintergründe der Selbstdarstellung zu gelangen. Die Auswertung der von den Jugendlichen genutzten Internetseiten und – portale battle ein wichtiger Bestandteil meiner Studienarbeit, da dort Bilder und eigen verfasste Inhalte beschrieben werden.
    Das web bietet die Möglichkeit leicht und unkompliziert mit anderen in Kontakt zu treten. Für die meisten Jugendlichen ist das web oft die einzige probability neue Menschen kennenzulernen, da sie in der Realität (z.B. Schule) kaum in der Lage sind andere anzusprechen. Dieser neue Weg der Kommunikation durch das Medium web ist in der heutigen Zeit nicht mehr wegzudenken. Aus diesem Grund habe ich für meine Studienarbeit das Thema: „Inszenierte Selbstdarstellung von Jugendlichen in der Offenen Kinder- und Jugendarbeit im web“ gewählt.

Ziel battle dabei damals ebenso wie heute, mit der Freundin, von der guy angesichts zu vieler Gespräche und Albernheiten weggesetzt wurde, über andere zu lästern oder die Jungs in der Klasse zu bewerten- teenagertypische Dinge eben. Auch das „Computerspielen sollte nur eine spaßvolle Ergänzung der bisherigen Freizeitbeschäftigung sein und nicht die Freizeit dominieren“ (Lerchenmüller- Hilse/ Hilse 1998, S.84).
